In makeup trends you didn’t know you needed, makeup slime videos are making their way across Instagram. In these perhaps soul-crushing posts (at least to makeup lovers), people are using crushed powders, highlighters, shadows, and lipsticks to color, sparkle and customize their Instagram slime to beautiful, albeit heartbreaking, perfection, as first reported by Seventeen.
But it’s not like people haven’t been crushing their makeup (and hence our hearts) already: Earlier this year, beauty bloggers Hailey and Kat of Beauty News debuted a YouTube series called “The Makeup Breakup,” in which they film themselves savagely destroying makeup palettes. While it’s pretty distressing to watch them tear apart $70 blush palettes, they do press the makeup back into the case and reuse it, so you can let out a sigh of relief.
This also comes about a year after the slime community blew up on Instagram (which yes, is apparently a thing), where self-proclaimed “Slimers” produced a slew of mesmerizing videosabout making the ooey-gooey substance. If you haven’t had a chance to check any of them out yet, the tl;dr is that all you see are hands and the slime, watching it stretch, listening to it bubble, and everything else you could do with it. It’s usually tinted with food coloring, but these newer videos are using our favorite lipsticks and eyeshadows in lieu of a few drops.
Check out a few of the makeup slime videos below — and don’t worry if it makes you upset, because SAME.
