On the heels of the premiere of her new sci-fi film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, sources are saying it looks like Cara Delevingne may also be tapped for the role of a Bond girl.
But if you’re thinking of other Bond girls that we’ve seen in the past, think again. Instead, according to Mirror Online, MGM executives have been impressed by her performance in Luc Besson’s Valerian and are talking about her starring opposite ‘007 — as an equal. A movie studio source in London shared with Mirror that “they feel she could play a fierce spy working alongside the main protagonist. who of course can play both sides. This role would not be arm candy, but a kick ass strong character.” Sounds perfect for Cara, if you ask us.
The source went on to say, “Her sizzling looks and ability to transform into many different characters on screen really gives her a unique edge. MGM mostly like to pick actresses just on the cusp of becoming big and helping that push, that is where is at.”
That said, while this is all complete speculation at this point, we’re sure Cara would kill a role like this. Valerian doesn’t premiere in theaters until Friday (July 21), but we’ve seen some of her stunt work in the movie’s trailers. We’re sure she could bring the same skills to the table if she is asked to be in the next James Bond film and totally shatter the Bond girl stereotype. But we’ll have to wait for official word from Cara herself or MGM to see how this all pans out.
